On this IA Story episode, Garet covers an incident involving a sergeant allegedly assaulting a juvenile near Broadway, Nashville, which resulted in a criminal investigation. At the time of recording this episode, this IA case is still open. Atif and Garet also discuss consensual encounters, consent, the DA's decision to not prosecute the case, and some issues affecting internal investigations into employee misconduct.
Near the end of the episode, Garet covers four educative tips. Citizens are encouraged to stay calm during bad police encounters and record when possible. Officers are encouraged to understand the limits of what they can do in situations and to uphold their duty to intervene when a fellow officer engages in misconduct.
Garet also shares his personal concerns about the records request process for this case and how the Metro Police leadership may be mishandling this case for ulterior motives which are not in the public interest.

Interested in hearing stories about police conduct? This podcast is going to have it all--the good, the bad, and the ugly.
Atif and Garet have many stories to share, and they are just getting started. They are pro-accountability. This means that all members of society should operate in a way that fellow citizens are not harmed.
Whether we are the police or a citizen, we should all aim to BE GOOD & BE SAFE.
There should be accountability when this does not happen. And maybe an episode on the podcast too.
But don't worry. They like the good stories too. There are a lot of men and women out their risking it all and doing the right thing when the time comes.
Everyone is welcome to join the community and share their thoughts, as well as let us know what they would like to hear more about.
Until next time, BE GOOD & BE SAFE.
